Chaos Machine FREQ Exp wiring?

I'm confused about the wiring of the Chaos Machine FREQ EXP jack.

I got the classic Tayday stereo jack:


But the Wiring Diagram on page 3 (https://docs.pedalpcb.com/project/PedalPCB-ChaosMachine.pdf) makes me scratch my tiny head...

There are 6 wires in the diagram and 5 pins on the jack !



At least the number of wires for the RATE EXP fits...

I really don't know how to read this.

That jack won't work unless you insulate the bushing from the chassis. This is the best jack to use:

The picture in the build docs might be misleading because the jack in the pic looks like yours. The BOM says "* Jacks MUST be plastic isolated switching TRS type"

The ones Chuck linked sometimes don't come with enough bushings to tighten them up against the enclosure walls. (it can be hit or miss)
Electrically either will work fine. If you like that style better (they do look cooler) just order two to ensure you have enough bushings.

The picture in the wiring diagram does need to be updated.

You can still test it out, make sure everything else is working. Just install temp jumpers where the EXP jacks go.

Your pedal will work fine using the jumpers Chuck suggested. And you can get a lot of great sounds out of this box without touching an expression pedal. I built this several months ago and have never wired in the expression jacks, but at some point I'll probably drill the holes in the enclosure and put them in.
