Circulator volume mod?

I built a Circulator and I am loving it except for one minor detail - it boosts my signal significantly, which is affecting how useful it is for cleans. Has anyone else experienced this? I'd like to add a trimpot to adjust the output volume but I have no idea where to begin.

You need to remove R26 and add a 100K trimpot that has the outer lugs go to C9 and ground respectively, and the middle lug to output.

Another option is to deal with R5 or R6. The output stage IC4.2 has the gain that is defined as R6/R5=10k/10k=1. So you need to lower R6 or enlarge R5. Or substitute one of them with the trim pot (10K for R6 or 25K for R5) and adjust it by ear.

If I went the trimpot route, would I wire up legs 2 and 3 and clip the first leg off?

Basically yes, you can do that as well. But clipping off is not necessarily needed, you can connect leg 2 to leg 1 and wire up legs 1 and 3 then. Or you can use this one:
