Colossal Muffin Drill Template (inaccuracy)

Not sure where or how to report or post this issue, so my apologies if I got it wrong.

I found an issue or inaccuracy with the drill template for:
Colossal Muffin Build Documentation (Revised 12/14/23)

Drill Template Issue/inaccuracy:
The Volume & Gain Potentiometer Holes are both 1/16 of an inch too low on the Drill Template. They should move 1/16 of an inch up in the direction of the input/output and power jack. You will not be able to assemble the pedal with the current drill template with making this alteration.

Can you possibly post a picture of what you mean?

This uses a standard template that has been (re)used many times, I'm not seeing any inconsistencies unless I'm overlooking something.

I primarily use Tayda pots.

There were some pots around here somewhere where the lugs offset them more than the usual 16mm...

Sorry, did not take any pictures of the issue. Basically the top two pots (Volume & Gain) did not fit the template (the enclosure), no issues on the PCB other then very tight tolerances especially with the pot cover on the tone and mids pot.

The Switch in the center and bottom two pots (Tone and Mids) fit, not issues there.

Fix was to move the holes for the top two pots (Volume & Gain) up 1/16 of an inch.

Your diagram shows 1 Inch (0.999) from the center of the Gain pot to center of the Mids pot. After the fix that measurement is now 1.0625.

People typically bend the pot legs a bit to fit in this scenario as there are dimensional differences between the different manufacturers.

I follow a certain procedure to mount the pots, i read here somewhere.
I mount the pots very loosely into the box and fit the pcb over the legs. After checking everything i fix the pots with the nut and solder them. This procedure can even out some inaccurate drillings or slight differences.

exactly what I do ... this time it wasn't working.

I will be double checking the drill template from now on.

This is the first time I have ever had an issue; it was also my first pedal with more than 3 pots.

This would be an issue with the pots, not the drill template.

The PCB and drill template are both spaced exactly the same as every other 4-knob project here.

I'll put one together today just to be sure I'm not talking out my ass, but.... :ROFLMAO:

It's a perfect fit.

I dry fit some Tayda, Alpha, and SBP pots just to be sure.

Is it possible your printer page scaling was off or something?

printer scaling will get you.... make sure it's scaled 100% and on 8 1/2x11 and not A4... or just 3d print the drill template off thingiverse and have the pedalpcb layout perfect everytime.... dats what I do... I never print templates anymore... I just chuck the 3d template on and mark the holes with a spring loaded punch and full send.
