Current Tayda fees after new tariff?

Idk I mean they make a solid argument. If they raised the price by exactly the tariff amount and had it like a subtotal in the price. Console 474 + Tariff 25 total 499 i could see a little bit of the consumer side. But yea as they said people got what they paid for, now that it cost nintendo a little less doesn’t mean they need to give it to you. I’m typically fuck corporations, but I see no reason as to why the consumer would be owed anything there.

You mean like Mouser and Digikey? I do agree, but I don't see the smaller vendors like APD, SBP or Smallbear or others doing this. I'm not defending Tayda and the higher shipping rates, just pointing out they're not the only ones that don't show the tariff separately. IMHO these other small vendors just quietly raise their prices accordingly. Who's to say they don't take advantage of the situation and raise the prices more than is actually necessary?

Well i was referring to the Nintendo article Robert posted. There really isn’t unless its priced to the point you lose customers due to cost. We’re not talking about food or medicine here. But yes how digikey and mouser did it, like a sales tax I would say they should probably refund that to the people
they sold to, I like the way they did that.

Today I discovered that shipping to Italy for less than 0.9 kg of components (about 92 $ worth) now costs over 126 $ with DHL. A few of weeks ago was as usual, about 34 $ with more material and about 1kg.

If these are the new shipping fee, Tayda is no longer an option for me.

Sorry to post again.
I hope there's a bug in Tayda's website.
If I increase the quantity of an item in my cart (one more 1N4001 diode, $0.02), the DHL DDP shipping cost doesn't change.

However, if I add a new item (a 1N4148 diode $0.01), the DHL DDP shipping cost increases by $1.04. If I add a larger and more expensive item, like a 4PDT footswitch ($3.99), it increases by about $1.28.
This doesn't seem to make much sense.

I've already contacted Tayda support. Has anyone else noticed the same behavior?

What is APD (amplified Parts)? Small Bear & Stomp Box parts are in MA & MI respectively, amplified parts is in AZ, they have all already paid the tariffs so the only thing they are passing on to us is their higher cost! Shipping is within the US and there are no additional tariffs state to state.

SO... The Tariffs have been rolled back to pre-Trump levels, but what's not there anymore is the "de minimis" exemption. De minimis basically allowed imports into the US to pass through customs duty-free if the purchase was under $800. Now we are paying Tariffs on even small non-commercial amounts. It sucks, write your congressmen! Trump sucks!

Except for some 60 countries including all of the EU and Switzerland to fight forced labor... not even joking... My customers in the U.S. have to pay an additional 12.5% for any product, and a 10 CHF fee on top (around 15 USD). Switzerland does not allow shipping unless duties are paid upfront... so it shows up at checkout.

It sucks all over! Import tariffs into the US are now 10% for the anti-forced labor countries, and 12.5% for the countries who don't stand against it. I think it's patently ridiculous that a hobbyist in the USA be forced to pay the very same tariff rates as say... Mouser. And realistically I'm not sure how Tayda is calculating things but if they sell a resister made in China it's 12.5% but a POT made in Mexico would be subject to a much lower Tariff, as they are based on county of manufacture not country of shipping.

APD=Amplified Parts Direct, a different vendor than Amplified Parts. But they both apply here.

I believe you're arguing symantecs here. They are ALL passing the higher cost to us, the consumers. My point here was  how they are passing them on. Mouser, here in Texas, is pretty transparent. They, like the smaller companies previously mentioned, pay tariffs to import the parts they sell but they show the actual tariffs for each item. Tayda and the others I mentioned, on the other hand, do not show the tariff amounts.

No I agree with you, but my point was more on the fact that without the de minimis in place we are forced to pay tariffs period. I don't want to buy from Mouser, I literally hate their interface. Tayda was nice, under $800 pay the (very reasonable) freight from Thailand and zero tariffs, now it just sucks. I'm not Josh Scott, I'm making pedals to keep my hands limber, and my brain busy. It's kinda hard to justify $60 in shipping/tariffs on $60 of components.

I wonder how much business Tayda (and other overseas sites that cater to niche hobbies) is losing over this? I hope they stay in business.
Only thing its really changed for me with tayda orders is I typically buy more when I do. The price difference being a little less drastic now has caused me to buy a few more enclosures stateside maybe, but only when i was already ordering from stompbox parts. As I like their pro footswitches the best.

If their enclosure wait times are any indication, business is booming.

Keep in mind: Tayda was ungodly cheap on parts and services. Still is.

Just their shipping has changed. I can’t fathom onesy twosey order are prohibitive for people but I tend to order >$100 worth of stuff each time I do, so it’s been a while since I order parts for just one pedal.

It took me a while to figure this out for myself, but since I did figure it out I really like Mouser now. The thing with Mouser is they carry so many parts it can be overwhelming trying to find the exact part you are looking for.

The trick (for me) is to use the search and then the filters for IC's, transistors and such. For passives like caps and resistors I drill down through the menu then use the filters to narrow it down to a few choices that meet my needs.

Mouser's phone interface is difficult, the interface on my tablet and computer are much better. The filters work great once I started using them and learned which fields work best when narrowing down parts. I ALWAYS checkmark the IN STOCK box on my tablet and computer, this option isn't available on the phone interface.

It does help I'm in the same state as Mouser, typically I get two day delivery at the lowest shipping rate.

Don't get me wrong, I still like and order from Tayda. I really like their drilling service, powder coating and UV prints. Typically I'll order my parts in a separate order from enclosures. I feel parts orders get here unbelievably fast considering the distance and borders they cross while enclosures, ummm, take a bit longer as we all know.

Similar to you, I build for the sheer joy of it as a hobby. Time and money, within reason, are not as important to me as the finished product.

Edit: I just checked, I've got about $87 in my Tayda cart, components only no enclosures, and tarriffs/shipping is $33. Still not cheap but not a 1:1 ratio.

I have words…

But w/re: big box suppliers like digikey and mouser, it's not really meant for us. Thankfully they're not as exclusive as Rochester Electronics, but they really are for larger scale operations where the engineers have sussed it all out and are in there all day anyway, looking at their linked EDA parts libraries and are just there to order in bulk. Or they're an OEM with some automation/pick n place and need parts. All that to say their interface is not meant for us normies who use eBay and Amazon, i.e. it's not e-commerce, it's engineering.

+1

I’ve ordered from Tayda here and there over the years. They do sometimes have something I can’t find anywhere else, and the prices and quality have always been fine. But I find their interface slow and painful.

Mouser is quick once you figure out which filters you actually need to fill in. For me it’s usually just: value, through hole, voltage rating, tolerance, maybe lead spacing. Make sure to check the “in stock” box. Sometimes I’ll limit it to 2 or 3 brands, just to narrow the list if I’m getting too many results.
The ability to save things as separate projects is nice too, rather than having one big shopping cart.

It’d be really cool if they bagged your order by project. Would save me some sorting time. Maybe once the robots take over the picking ;)

The whole point of the orange guy obviously would be that they wont stay in business. So you will buy local. But not for Tayda prices. Even if companys like Tayda will fall down you Americans wont be able to deliver for those prices. That is why it is so stupid, and more harming for US pedal companys than it will be for me as a hobby builder.

Did you ever hear back about this?

Tayda will be fine. Nothing going on in the US has changed a single thing about my buying habits for parts, except that shipping is more.
