Isn’t it a Univox design with an input cap selector?

I believe it is. I think a PCB will be excellent!

If it's based on the Uni-Drive (which I believe it is) the rotary switch is acting like a stepped potentiometer and can be replaced with a normal pot.

The Pettyjohn Rail is the same way.
