Ridiculously fun, and an easy build to boot. This would be a great first project.

Thanks all who recommended it in my “pedals for bass” thread.

The artwork is so simple yet perfect.
This pedal is on my list but I can't find the 4558s. Definitely need it for bass, the thread linked above also led me to buy this PCB.

Aren't 4558s the most commonly available dual opamp?
I have no idea, just a noob. But I do know that I can't find any NJM4558s and I don't have the knowledge to know if any other IC with 4558 in the name is a substitute.

For example, are the TC1044SCPA and MAX1044 equivalent?

Just make sure the 4558 you order is a DIP:

(unless you have a build that requires a SIP):

.

Chip-sniffers will opine there is a difference between an older JRC and NJM or other newer variants, but …

I suggest — SOCKET your IC, buy some chips (TL072, TL082, 4558, 4559?, Burr Brown, etc) and see what works best for you & your Duck Box, trust your own ears — if you can hear a difference, is the pricey Burr Brown worth the added expense?

For charge pumps, I have heard of problems with the max1044 so I stick with TC1044SCPA.
