Exceptional Instrumentals

I'd love to reply to each and every one of these, but in the meantime - thanks for sharing, this is exactly what I was hoping for! Jazz, metal, classical, surf... Lots of stuff I haven't heard, too.

Here's one by a band very dear to me, as we've been good friends for 20 years. Swedish goup Dungen kind of set into motion a certain type of Psych production that bands like Tame Impala and others would emulate and popularize in the mid-aughts and beyond. All Swedish language lyrics, but hell, I can barely understand what anyone's singing in English. :) Fun side note - starting in 2005 I kinda became their "Chicago Member" according to Gustav, as I usually sit in for a song when they're in town. Start with Ta Det Lugnt, but all of their albums are worthwhile (and Reine Fiske is an incredibly good guitarist).

Love Dungen. Really fantastic songwriting and musicianship.

Yep - I'm not sure people realize just how much Tame Impala et al were inspired by them. Kevin even asked Gustav to "finish" the first TI album (mixing maybe..? don't remember) and he politely said "not sure what I'd do, sounds great already!" Have you seen them live in Chicago?

Wow, I'd never heard Dungen before. Really digging this song. I host a show on a college radio station and this is definitely going on the air this Friday.
