Favorite 1590XX builds

I’m an aging Gen X’er, and found build inspiration from the new MXR Rockman pedal. I did a 2-in-1 with the Rock Star Distortion and the Cepheid Chorus, and it does the Tom Scholz sound pretty well. I A/B’ed it with my X100 from the 80s, and it’s remarkably close to the original

@mkstewartesq what reverb would you use if you had to do it over?

I would probably go with the Spacialist. It looks to just have a ton of different usable bread -and-butter reverbs.

I can second this about the Spatialist, it’s definitely utilitarian,

Plus 1 on the Spacialist! I also advocate for the "Deflector Reverb" as an add-after to the Spacialist for its lush & ambient soundscapes.

I've been considering picking up one of the new X100's.

I picked up a 1590xx to try stuff with and ended up using it as a dual pedal build with an Aion Blueshift and a PPCB Electrovibe Mini. I was originally thinking of a standalone mini board but a looper enclosure might be better for that. Here are a couple pics

I decided to make a chuggy dirtbox with a HM-2 and Tyrian distortion. An order switch may have helped, but I rarely use them both simultaneously.

So, I tried the shading effect that @jjjimi84 suggested and it didn't work very well. I need to keep practicing that and may try on a different project or scrap piece. I decided to fill in the block lettering with solid colors and outlined in with an acrylic pen. I'm gonna let this sit for a day or two before sealing it up with some clear coat. For now, I think this is done, but want to make sure before committing.

Definitely not as clean as others builds here… impressively nice work all.

But, I’m proud of this Aion Fx L5 preamp I built for a buddy who is a BBBBBIIIIGGG Ty Tabor fan.
