Favorite phase circuit

I have an old mxr phase 100 and I really dig it, but I thought I should go ahead and make one so I have a better understanding. So my question is what is your favorite phase? Which pedal PCB or other brand circuit would you recommend building for my first phase?

PhaseII has a dense board and thus calls for smaller resistors, or you can do what I did and stand up larger 1/4 watt resistors. This took a bit longer, especially since I want the populated board to look nice and all lined up, but it was a very satisfying build and sounds great. I say go for it!

Lectric-FX has a Maestro PS1-A Phaser project called Altered State Phaser, I think it's durned cool.


Perhaps a PPCB MODULE8? Then you'd have a phaser and some other cool schtuff along with it.
You could even go for a custom EEPROM, or if you spelunk the depths of the Internet, have nothing but different kinds of phaser on it, 8!

I bought two Circulator boards. The first one I made for a friend, it sounds pretty nice. But, I am going to do a ‘boneyard’ version on the other. The schematic and all the modifications are described by @Chuck D. Bones in the following post.

My favorite, only because it was my second pedal ever, was a 1976 EHX Small Stone. My favorite in my collection now (and the only phaser) is a 1980 Ross 'Phaser,' which is extremely close to the MXR Phase 90 script. The only difference is they added a regenerate control topside, to allow for the syrupy-ness to go from thin to thick.

I do not know which PedalPCB offerings come close.
