I wanted to like this guitar, but when I tried one in a shop it didn't do anything for me. It was a while ago so I don't recall now what it was that turned me off. Spec wise it looks great, so maybe it was the neck.

I tried one too and like you it left me cold. It might have been the pickups - I dunno. Fortunately TV Jones makes P90-sized Filter'trons. I've used those in a Tele before and they sounded incredible. In fact it was a Thinline Ash-body Tele, so not too far off the one shown above. They were a huge improvement in that guitar, and I like P90s.
I have a natural ash body 78 American Deluxe Tele with Lollar vintage PU's I got off eBay in the 90's. Man, NOTHING touches the sound of that sucker!!!!! I have a few other tele's too. Surprisingly the $200 tele from Rondo music comes the closest....
Funny you should say that. I LOVE my Duo Jet, even though (partly because?) it has a Bigsby. A Duo Jet should have a Bigsby. But not just any Duo Jet. The Vintage Select Jets are the best I have played. My favourite is my '53 that I put TV Jones Dearmond-sized Filter'trons in. It has the snap and twang of a Tele with the fat squawk of a LP. Since I've been playing Gretsches Fenders hold less and less attraction to me. My Les Paul has a sustain and punch which is hard to beat but the Duo Jet is more fun. Probably the most under-rated guitar of all time.
I don’t get along well with trem systems in general, which is part of the reason I love telecasters. Admittedly I’ve never actually tried a bigsby. Guess I need another guitar. Damn.
