Fuzz Face Voltage Starve/Dying Battery Mod

I'd like to add a voltage starve circuit in my fuzz face build and was wondering if anyone had a diagram for this type of mod. I've also heard there's various ways of doing it, any info would be greatly appreciated.

A 5k pot in series with +9V is one way. Wired as a variable resistor like the Stab pot in the Fuzz Factory.
