Gemini Pickups GAS thread

Anyone have any Gemini Pickups?

I'm GASing hard for the Suprocaster and a tele gold foil neck. Sadly I already have some nice Bootstraps for my next build. Not many clips out there of these but I've heard nothing but positive word on various forums. Are gold foils legit or a fad?
Interesting stuff! I love his unconventional approach. Never heard of him before.

I'm in the "never heard of him" boat but his stuff looks really cool. I've been searching for a reasonably priced set of wide range humbuckers so I'll probably pick up a set of tone rangers at some point (I have to carve a neck first).

I tried gold foils for the first time a few weeks ago. I think it was a custom shop jazzmaster with a b/m/n configuration (and a bigsby). The middle and neck positions sounded great. I don't know if I spent more than two minutes playing on the bridge - it didn't match the sound in my head that I'm looking for. I never use middle-position pickups and I noticed I was smacking it pretty frequently. The pickup did a great job of letting me know my picking technique is apparently mediocre. (And I confirmed that I hate bigsby's). I'll probably do a gold foil neck at some point.

I've got their site in my bookmarks but don't know too much about them either; I really want to try the Mercury One but alas have no guitar that takes a standard-sized humbucker.

I've been GASing for their Strat foils, leaning heavily toward Guyatone-spec Neck and Middle with a DeArmond-spec Bridge. The only thing keeping me from taking the leap is the lack of demos. (I'd like to get a sense of the output relative to what's already in my Strats...)

Thanks for the replies. I think I've decided to get a Suprocaster to replace the bridge pickup in my other tele that I've never been totally sold on

Great! Please give us an update when you get it in. I've been thinking of replacing the bridge pickup of my tele.

Got my Suprocaster in the mail today, will install it later and report back. Pretty sure I will need to rout the cavity a bit; it's got some thick bar magnets on the bottom

Initial impressions are superb on build quality

I've got this installed. It's definitely a telecaster bridge pickup but it's slightly different feeling. Less sharp attack and a little dark. I need to live with it a bit more. Definitely takes dirt pedals really well being darker.

I actually think my neck pickup is brighter since I disconnected the tone control from it. Not a statement I'd think I'd ever make. Might want a 500k pot for this one

I decided not to rout the cavity because I'm lazy. It just barely fits

I have two sets of his gold foils for jazzmasters, they're great sounding pickups imo.
Which spec do you have in them? And do you remember how the output compares to the stock pickups, by chance?

I’m still leaning hard toward getting a set for my Strat, having tried (and been hugely disappointed by) the Fender CuNiFe pickups!

I have the dearmonds. They're a little hotter than stock JM pickups but not wildly so.
This is perfect. I’m going to quit hemming and order a Strat bridge in Dearmond spec! Hopefully it doesn’t take the full 6 weeks to produce..

I remember a magazine article from the '80s where a guy took his Strat, routed out a swimming-pool and then had quick-connects for the pick-guards. He had nearly a dozen pickguards with nearly every pickup combo you could possibly need/want.
