guitar strings : Brand preference Purchase Place

I know this ar is a pedal building forum but I assume a lot of you here also play bass or guitar figure I'd throw this out there.

So I'm thinking of changing to custom gauge set of strings. Wanting a bit more bottom end but I like the .009 to .010 high E lite but want heavier on the low end.

I've used places like "Just Strings " Guitar center and the local guitar store (when we had one.) Now all I have near me is a Keyboard/Piano store and Guitar center. Anybody got a place to share where they get theirs at?

If you have several or more guitars and basses then you know how expensive restringing all of them can get. Luckily for me I don't like the bright tinny sound a new set of strings and prefer old worn strings with a little mud so I don't change them quite as often as most others. To be honest ,now I just replace broken strings until the lower wound strings lose their sizzle then it's time for a new set.

And while I'm at it where do any of you go when you want to upgrade guitar parts? Pots bridges tuners concerning pots anybody have preferences on pots. Spent 20 on 4 CTS pots on Amazon. Can't seem to find Bournes pots for a decent price any more. and now it seems pots there's only like 3-5 companies making them anymore. Aside from the uber expensive custom made pots. So any thoughts on this subject?

I buy at my local Music and Arts. I put Turbo Slinky’s (9.5-46) on my Les Paul and Hybrid Slinky’s (9-46) on my Strat but I’m leaning toward Hybrids for both from now on.

The Hybrid Slinky’s sound like what you describe. 9 set of the bottom with a 10 set up top.

I only use the VIPots from Vintage Inspired Pickups. Great taper and fairly priced for a boutique set of pots.

when we had a local music store I bought all my basics there it's unfortunate, they just can't compete with Amazon among others. Its too bad the mom and pop style places are vanishing faster and faster where you chat up the owner or whoever is there visiting. I had a friend who was the guitar repair guy at Norm's Rare guitars in San Fernando Valley Cal I sat and chatted with Mick Mars for like 2 hours. Met Gene Simmons there and Tom Petty among others

I stop at the local shop from time to time, but they don’t really carry the brand I like to use: Labella. Sure, I could ask…

Also, Labella does custom sets.
