Welp, I didnt see this until after my ill fated attempt, and I got it from Das Musikding with the kit anyway. Unfortunately I went with a method from a youtube video of bending each pin up one by one, and on the third to last pin, I accidentally broke the pin off of the chip. Ah well, I will have to order a new one. At least I have a funny story out of it.
Third from the corner opposite of the marked one, the pad on the pin one closer to the corner from that also came off, so I was just going to order the new pcb and this time get the FV-1 pre soldered lol
I'm with @Robert on this one. You really need a hot air gun to remove it. Yes, you could use a hot plate, but using a clothes iron as a hot plate without having any way to measure the actual temperature seems like a recipe for disaster.
