I’ll Be Damned…

Ever have a circuit take you by surprise? Something you didn’t expect? For me it was the Raincoat. I love me a Big Muff (lol), but the Raincoat is different, yet the same (build report tba). I can’t imagine it not being on my board. I was also very impressed with the Paul Trombetta Mini-bone.

What say you?…

It's a strange one, the Raincoat. I like it because it's wonderfully different but I still can't see myself using it. I do love a Big Muff and like the stranger variants but can't see where I'd use them with what I play.

More and more I find myself using fewer and fewer effects. A lot of the time I'm happy with just a big sounding, slightly dirty overdrive. Oddly it's one of the more difficult sounds to get just right. But so satisfying when you do. Then maybe a bit of delay or reverb and I'm happy.

I must go through my fuzz pedals again. A good fuzz is a lot of fun.

I've got the Quarantine (same circuit as Raincoat) on the breadboard right now. I'll probably put the 10n coupler on a switch with a 47n or something like that so it's a bit better with bass, but still workable with guitar. Sounds great thus far, more breadboard experiments to be done...

Fuzzy fox, I expected to like the 8ve while being underwhelmed with the regular fuzz but it sounds great to me.

Thought the lowtide would be a novelty then it made it onto my board. I step on it often. Now I'm making the mini so I'm not tempted to remove it for space saving.

I just finished a Spirit Box and HOT DAMN! that’s a keeper. Usually don’t mess with reverb pedals since most of my amps have tube reverb, but this is a different ballgame. It has all the atmosphere of my Afterneath, w/o all the extra weird (not that weird is a bad thing) of the afterneath. Highly recommend

I am obsessed with my rat build at the moment. It can literally do it all. Fuzz, distortion, OD and clean boost (with the diodes out of the circuit).

Agreed - I had both the afterneath and the ghost echo at one point, and kept the ghost echo. It's the spooky-ooky haunted house to the afterneath's crystal caves of the ice planet... or something?

My Spirit Box stays within reach and will often be combined with a lightly blended tape delay. Fantastic pedal and a fun build.
