Ok I had the thread about the Tyrian which I still can’t get working so o tried an easy circuit. Feel like I did everything great.
Looks clean. Followed all your recos from the Tyrian. And I go test it……nothing. Bypass works. Effect. Nothing. Not even a light.

Ahhhhhhhhh. Am I just not made for this?

Lol

I think this is one of the biggest lies perpetuated in diy. the amount of heat and time of exposure would have to be ridiculous.

Hot air tools, wave pools, and reflow ovens.... unless folks are using a blow torch to solder it's going to be fine.

I've heated FV-1 ICs with hot air to the point that the entire body of the IC was smoking, surrounding area of the PCB discolored from the heat.

It still worked (on a new PCB) afterwards.

You can test the LEDs outside the pedal with a 9V battery and a 4K7 resistor and see if it lights up. Just run them in series between the positive and ground of the battery or power supply.
Even easier – I just stick a CR 2032 watch battery between the two leads to see if the LED lights before I put it on the board. That battery is low powered enough that you don’t even need the resistor.
