I didn't buy any newly released pedal in all of 2024.

In 2024 I spend way more on PCBs and components than I ever spend on pedals in a year 🙈 so, commercial pedals had to be ignored. I'd likely had bought the EAE Prismatic Wall, if I wasn't waiting for a fine synth with input and resonator functionality (Erica's Steampipe almost did it for me, but seems too focussed / limited, outside of it having no input).

What commercial pedal defined 2024 to you? No workstations or revamped classic circuits. Just that box that actually breathed fresh into the seemingly stale state of things.

I didn't buy any new pedals in 2024 because I was buying a bunch of drum stuff, but the Keeley Octa Psi is the coolest one I heard all year. I'll probably pick one up in the future.

Not a 2024 release, but I was very close to getting a Source Audio Atlas Compressor around Black Friday this year. I already have the Source Audio EQ2, which in my opinion is the EQ pedal to end all EQ pedals. With the desktop app the possibilities are literally endless. The Atlas seems to be just that but for compressors. I'll still get one some day, just not this year 🥲

I didn’t buy any pedals but I did get some sound libraries for Logic that I used in an online class I took. It’s been fun to work start to finish in a DAW again. Hadn’t done that in 20 years.

I bought 2 commercial pedals the Ibanez PTeq and the Line 6 DL4 Mk2. If there was a DIY project like the Ibanez parametric EQ I would probably have done it instead. The Line 6 delay is excellent and I don't think much about it could be easily recreated DIY short of building every pedal it models, even then they wouldn't be tap tempo or stereo very easily.

I bought a couple of the Maestro pedals for fairly cheap, the Ranger OD and Orbit Phaser. Gibson has been giving them away with some new guitar purchases so the people that don't want them have been listing them on reverb for a quick turn around.

I also bought a used Boomerang III looper
Oh, and an EHX Howitzer for 50% off

How are the maestro pedals? They look cool.

I have 4 of them. The 2 I mentioned before and the Discoverer delay and Invader distortion They all sound really good and are definitely high quality, but for better or worse, most seem to have some minor quirk that you may not expect. For instance, the distortion has an optional noise gate that doesn't cut the signal completely even though it has an internal trimpot for the cutoff threshold. Another is that the delay feedback is filtered in a strange way that's eventually turns into a knocking sound.

The distortion is my favorite of the bunch it has this distinctive low mid high gain growl which is killer when it is maxed. You have to roll off the treble a bit more than normaI and I just leave the noise gate off.

I only bought one pedal in 2024- a Disaster Area DMC.micro Gen4. I’m using it to extend the functionality of the DL4 mkii I bought last year.

Great little midi gear for sure! Sold mine to a local shop after I bought a Morningstar MC8. Called them the next day to see if they still had it, bought it back after work that day. Still had all my presets on it. Now I have 2, one for my Meris Polymoon, the other for the Enzo.

After a couple of years of going DIY only, this year I bought:
Red Panda Raster v2
Dreadbox Terminator
Ehx Deep Freeze

And yeah a Chase Bliss Mystery Box as well 😬

In my defense it's all stuff that wouldn't be really possible to diy

Had my eye on raster too. How do you like it?
