I lost my flux pen. Whatcha using?

I bet I have the same tub (not literally)…except mine is pushing 20 years…

Just a tub, I've never found a flux-pen to buy, yet.

Water soluble flux and some small tip paint brushes. Flux washes off quite nicely. Less mess in the long run.

I feel like the odd man out, but I stopped using my flux pen after just a few builds. I use rosin core solder and my iron at about 750° and have had zero issues.

I rarely use it, which is how I misplaced the pen. I'm gonna do some more surface mount stuff coming up and the pen is helpful there

Kudos on the SM exploration. The builds that use them look very clean.

I use a tub of SRA 135 and apply it with a small hobby brush. I use lead free solder and even with a rosin core it’s pretty necessary. I have a jar of Thermaltronics’ TMT-FP-1 as well but I wouldn’t buy it again, it smokes/vaporizes more than SRA 135 although that difference may be more negligible with leaded solder. TMT-FP-1 melts at a lower temperature so the tub is more manageable and it stays liquid on a board a bit better if you take a 15 minute break.

I'm using the MG Chemicals 836-P. Smells like fish but it works just fine.
