I've not got that far! Between 60-500 according to the spec sheet. So they may hit the right field, possibly the right barn.. They were original bought for a low noise power shunt IIRC. If they're around 120-300 then they should be about right from what I can make out. If the Q1 is low gain then it'll be more old fuzz sounding.
Got to sort out this maida regulator oscillation first though for the tube compressor. Running 3080 at 350V should make it quiet enough B+...

EDIT quick test: 176 and 185.

Also found some SMD BJTs, hfe according to datasheets:
* BC817-40LT3 NPN -40V, hfe 250-600
* MMBT3904 NPN - 40V, hfe 30-300
* BC807-40 PNP - 45V, hfe 250-800
* BCM56DS - double matched NPN on the same silicon, 80V, hfe 63-250

***ANNOUNCEMENT***

Mr Stickman has already jumped in yesterday and now I will too. I tend to take weekends off from here since I'm not at a computer all day so forgive the delayed response.

First and foremost, this is a contest. This contest is designed so that everyone, newcomers and seasoned veterans, can participate. Show off what you can build (tangible pedal or a circuit design) with parts just sitting around in your inventory.

In the name of brotherhood we are encouraging memes, specifically to roast each other's builds. Besides a quick LOL, these are to encourage others to make their build just a little bit better next time. That offboard wiring looks like a rat's nest? Call em out on it! Everybody here started out as a newbie and made tons of rookie mistakes along the way.

This thread has taken a life of it's own and certain people here have much thicker skin than others. This thicker skin comes across as off putting and discourages other to participate (not just on this thread). We want good, clean fun. We want everyone to enjoy building something and roasting somebody else's (above the belt of course).

IAIGF is dead and gone for those of you who remember. Don't bring it back. Spend some of that energy making or designing a guitar pedal. Or actually go play your guitar.

THE POINT OF THIS CONTEST IS...

-Build or design something
-Roast somebody else's build
-Win prizes

In that order.

I've managed to make the best 1.5KHz oscillator using miller capacitance on the mosfet :mad:

Week 2 of this contest has come and gone. If you don't feel like reading all ~350 posts since last week's update let me get you all up to speed....

Builds: Y'all starting to come out of the woodwork now with some builds. People who have submitted this week:
  • @Big Monk with his "Pompeii" and "Electric Monktress"
  • @ragamuffin with a "Astrotone" stripboard build
  • @jcpst with 2 builds! One is a Modded "Clari(not)" and with a "Schutone DM-3". A double whammy!
  • @ICTRock with a switch brake control for a Pigtronix Robotron. Low effort indeed, but it counts.
  • @Guardians of the analog with a "Valhalla" distortion pedal
  • @Synchrony Pedalworks with a murdered out Buzzaround
  • @swelchy with his combo build of a Morning Glory into an Informant (our first combo build here)
  • @gtfields13 throws his hat in the ring with his "Rat Terrier" rat build along with accompanied song lyrics
  • @drgonzo1969 comes in at the tail end of this week with "Klontaro"
Circuit Design:
  • One of the sideline haters here @Paradox916 decided to put together a LED light up circuit. It does nothing else. We counted it since he actually took out his breadboard, put something together, filmed it, edited it, and then posted it. That required a lot more effort than @ICTRock switch pedal.
  • Can somebody please put together a breadboard circuit for here? Do you really want Paradox916 to win here on a technicality?
"Hate":
  • OMG. We encouraged 'hate' here, but not IAIGF level of hate. This is supposed to be a roast of each other's builds. Some of y'all are just brutal. Others a swing and a miss. Some of y'all got some good, clean, above the belt roasts out there. We want quality of hate/roasts, NOT quantity. We are keeping track of the Player Haters separately.

As a reminder, you are eligible to submit multiple builds in this contest.
