let's see your pedalboard!

Going to jam with some folks next week. It’s a semi-annually thing, not my main homies. As usual for this sort of thing, I like to start with a blank slate. Then I audition and try different pedals, whatever I’m digging in that moment.

Here’s what I’ll be using:

GTR -> Turbo Tuner -> Median Compressor -> Octanaut -> Insurgent Octave Fuzz -> Son of Ben Preamp -> AMP

Fx Loop: Space is Fun

It’s a fun combo with a wide range of tonal variety considering the pedal count.

Just did a big refresh. Cleaned all my pedals especially the tuner which use to be off-white but is white once more. Scraped the decaying foam off the evh phaser so I could properly apply velcro. It's been on my pedalboard since they came out in '04 I think? Actually I think it's my second ever pedal after a Crybaby.

Signal is Pitchfork > Phaser > Microamp > Betty Boost (klon) > Skully Fuzz (muff) > The Mutt (Mesa/Marshall) > Choppa (trem) > Tuner > Delay > Reverb. Tuner before delay so I can mute the gain stages but keep the tails going at the end of a song.

Just ordered some 18" patch cables so I can hide the run up to Da' Choppa better and have the plugs sit naturally.

I didn’t want to bring my big board to band practice yesterday. It’s in the middle of it’s next evolution. So I put together something for my backpack-sized board.

Octanaut -> Pro-10 -> Leprechaun -> 3-way splitter -> Duo Phase -> two amps.

I think the Rainbow Machine gets a bad rap. There’s a lot of good slapback and modulation tones in it. I like setting the “spectrum” so that it just barely drifts in pitch.

How do you feel about the Warm Phaser? Mine was underwhelming. Love the compressor tho.
Well, I have owned a few MuTron II, and honestly believe they compare very favorably.

Rather large control range which I enjoy.

I have owned /-still own a stupid number of phasers and vibe style pedals, and this one is certainly in my top 5.

Here's my rig currently. I wanted to assemble a board that has one of everything I'm interested in. 22 pedals. 10 of which I made. Not bad.

I use the spot where the Aion Andromeda is to swap out different overdrives I've built. Many to choose from. And after I build the Golden Falk, I will have a MIAB test session where I will put my favorite (currently the Aion Tempest is in that spot, but have several to audition). Coming next will be a "fuzz board" which will be in between the wah wah and the tuner which will be GE transistor pedals, fuzz face, etc. That will be about 50/50 DIY.

Very simple rig, gets me all the sounds I want. From guitar into the ppcb vox wah then into the polytune 3➡️Aion emerald phaser➡️ppcb Uber drive then into the front end of the feral cheryl. In the loop is the black hat CE-2, madbean HF-2 flanger and schutone TR-2 trem and DM-3 delay.

I see there’s room for about 6 CH-1’s leftover, intriguing. 🤔

Currently. The OBNE Expression Slider was just my testing the oscillator control for the Brundlefuzz (Nutty Fuzz/ADHD Fuzz). That space will eventually be occupied by most likely my Chalumeau once I get the clean mod working. Similarly, my Boneyard Delegate will replace the Warden once I troubleshoot it or just rebuild the PCB entirely. Pretty quick, my board is gonna be half DIY and half MIDI-controlled commercial stuff.

Everything is in the PBC6X's loops: Zuul Mini (underside) > Warden > Full English > Brundlefuzz > H90 w/Tricerachorus in its loop. The Full English is the newest addition, replacing a Golden Boy, and I am totally in love-- save for the FE lacking an equivalent independent boost section, it's superior in every other way except its footprint.

The board is wired for stereo output via some BPTA feedthrough jacks but can easily sum to mono via the PBC6X. It sounds wonderful through my dual Quilter Tone Block 202 setup at rehearsal and also via my Iridium > Scarlett > Adam T5Vs at home. Next big step is two lightweight Mojotone vertical 2x12s with Jensen Tornado Stealth 100s.

In my shoegaze/post-punk band, pre-COVID, I used a 36-inch wide board for years. This is like 18", just as rearrangeable and even more versatile.
