Monolith fuzz capacitor question

Hi all,

I’m building the Aion Monolith fuzz as my seventh pedal. I can populate a board, follow a schematic, but my understanding about what the components are actually doing is lacking.

So my question is what does C2 do? The reason I ask is that I don’t have a 1.5nF cap and want to know what happens if I use a 1.8nF. Schematic is attached.

Any wisdom shared is greatly appreciated.

It forms a low pass filter with R1.woth a corner frequency of 106k.
When I see filters set like that, it makes me thing someone messed up by a value of 10(i.e., should be 10.6k)
1.8n would be a corner of 88k. No audible change.
15n would give you a corner frequency of 10.6k

Thanks jwin615 (you helped me with my last question). I thought it was a filter cap. Glad to know no audible difference. I guess the value question should be sent to the minds behind Lovetone.

There's some other effects it has, as far as the reactance the opamp sees and it probably lets some low frequencies roll off to ground. My guess(and purely a guess) is either
1-bad math/mistake
2- controlling/preventing oscillations and/or stability, though I doubt stability is the reason since this is just a simple buffer.
That said, you could socket it or jam some Dupont wires in there and audition bigger caps.
That is, if you want to limit the higher frequencies coming into the circuit.
Or use two caps in parallel to hit your 1.8n(parallel capacitors value=the sum of the caps)
