Muffin Fuzz Pot question

Hey all,

I'm planning on making the Green Russian version of the Muffin Fuzz (whenever the PCBs are back in stock). I noticed in the build docs that the pots are all just listed as 100K, so I'm not entirely sure if Audio or Linear pots are the ones to go with here. Can anyone help guide me in the right direction of figuring out which pot value to use? Thanks!

You can use audio for volume and linear for the other two

Some people use audio for volume, but I think the sweep is better on a linear pot, so I use linear for all three. With a logarithmic volume pot you end up with most of the volume at the end of the sweep while a linear has unity around noon or so on the knob.

Another silly question...which pot spots are tone, volume, and sustain? I want to use the audio pot for volume but am unsure which is which.

Weird that it doesn’t include that on either the PCB or build doc. My guess would be that sustain is the one on the top left if you’re looking at it from the component side. Then tone is the one in the middle, volume top right. Or at least that’s how they always seem to be set up

Yea I am pretty certain the top right (from the inside of the enclosure) is Volume. The trace on the back of the pcb goes directly from the wiper to the out hole. Just wanted a second set of eyes so that I woukdnt have to desolder a pot unnecessarily.

You are correct. Looking into the enclosure, Sustain is top left, Volume top right.

I mean I’m still somewhat new to all of this so you might want a third set of eyes haha. But yea, as far as I can tell from the schematic, the board itself, and basically every big muff in existence, that layout would make the most sense

Use you DMM to check continuity from pin 2 to OUT. That’s your volume pot.
