Muffler Noise Gate

BuddytheReow

Breadboard Baker
Here it is. After lots of troubleshooting and determining I bought a fake JFET, here is my Muffler Noise Gate build. Once I got the “effect” to work I was so excited to finish. Without taking a minute to breathe and let it all sink in I grabbed my cordless drill and did the enclosure. I didn’t get one of the jack holes to line up right so the input jack is a little crooked. I didn’t want to overtighten and break the jack.

Now I’m wondering how to customize the enclosure...I’m thinking maybe Leonidas from 300. “The Hot Gates” anyone? ?

Big shout out to @Chas Grant for helping me troubleshoot. You are a valuable member of this group. I can’t thank you enough for taking the time to help me and I hope others can share your kindness too.

Glad you got it working!!! It’s always a good feeling when you fire up an effect you built yourself! That Feeling never gets old, whether it’s you first build or 100 it still feels good! And @zgrav brings up an excellent point on the bigger hole.

I'd use a file and only remove metal on one side of the hole. Been there, done that.
Other options are:
1. File the jack a little bit to gain some clearance.
2. Take a Dremel to the boss in the corner.
3. Use a different jack.

We all do troubleshooting. I just do mine when no one else is watching. ;)
