MXR Double-Double Overdrive Red Remote Mod

I have a buddy who wants me to add a red remote jack to the MXR Double-Double Overdrive. Before I start stumbling my way through it, what would be the best way to implement this? I am thinking I would have to desolder the switch on gain lo high switch.

I'm not familiar with that pedal, so I had to look it up.

From the advertising blurbage, it's a Distortion+/250.
Yes, looks like you'd have to desolder the gain-switch.

It's out of production, but I couldn't find a schematic.

Nonetheless, here's how I'd proceed:

Rehouse it in a slightly-larger enclosure to accommodate moving the jacks from the sides to the back and provide a little more room for the extra stomper that'll replace the toggle.
While slightly larger, your friend would still save pedalboard real-estate overall because there wouldn't be an extra enclosure (the remote) and no extra cabling that could go wrong.
I would hazard a guess that all the switch is doing is routing the gain through two different resistors, but I'd trace that part of the pedal to make sure. I bet it's a SPDT, so I'd use a DPDT stomper to add LED indication of "channel".

Git some gutshots/pics to post?

I'm working on a red remote style module now that will allow you to have the remote jack and keep the toggle switch...

What type of toggle switch does the Double-Double use? Can you post a picture of the PCB?

That's what I gathered too, that's a strange pair to toggle between.... Off to Reverb. :)
