Nein fuzz volym pot pop

Hi! I just built a Nein fuzz from pedalpcb, and it sounds great!! But I realized that when I turn the volume knob in a certain spot when it’s close to being maxed (accidentally put the plastic knob on weirdly so around 3 o’clock is max, not 5 like it normally is) there’s this weird popping or crackling noise, which comes no matter the other knobs settings.
Do any of you guys potentially know what could be wrong? Everything else about it seems to work just fine.
It doesn’t seem like there’s dc leakage to the volume pot, so I’m quite stumpeddd.

Also, I know fuzzes are noisy, but should there still be some buzz from the amp when volume on guitar is rolled off but the pedal is engaged?

Couldn’t insert a video for some reason, tell me if that would be useful

your soldering and wiring looks really good and your pcb is clean for a new member... could be possible you got a small hunk of a clipped lead in your pot and its stuck to the grease inside making it wonky.... or just a bad pot in general.

Make sure you didn't overtightened the nut on it or leave some of the tab behind. If you have, it could have damaged the carbon track but worth just loosening it some to check.
Nice to see new member role in with something that isn't a fire hazard.

I have barely tightened the pots, just enough so they wouldn’t come loose so I don’t think that would be the cause?

And thank you! Been building for half a year but progress has definitely been made!

Thanks!! Means a lot! Maybe, do you know any way of checking that? Or should I just desolder and order a new pot and hope for the best?

Tried today again, and when the volume is in a specific position there’s this constant hum. It’s generally quite noisy depending on the other settings, which is still there with guitar volume rolled off, but there’s definitely a weird noise when left around that almost max setting.

Also, I noticed that turning the bias knob creates a noticeable volume drop, peak volume at round 11 o’clock, and it drops if you go further away from that?? Never had a bias knob behave like that, is that normal?

Not sure if what you’re describing is normal, but I remember being confused by the controls on mine. It made more sense once I watched some videos and looked at the Fairfield site.
Yeah! I just watched one on YouTube and mine works like the original I would say, thank you!

Is your one noisy? I know fuzzes are noisy by nature, but how would you describe the hum on yours? Is it still there when guitar volume is rolled off?

You can position the.volume pot somewhere in the middle that doesn't make the noise then short legs 2 and 3 with some test leads or just solder a clipped lead across the pads.
You should get full volume then, I think disclaimer, I'm not fully awake yet. If the noise goes away, it's the pot.
If it's still present, more work to do. Video would help. Just paste the link in the text box. No need to embed.

Problem may be that you used a volym pot instead of a volume pot.🤣

So just connect 2 and 3 and see what happens? Out of curiosity what would that do exactly?

I haven’t plugged mine in for a while, but I don’t remember it being especially noisy.
