Ever since I got a LP, I wanted a SG, and my experience with Fujigen guitars has been amazing, so when this opportunity came up, I took it.

SG copies were in the European market for a few years a while back, quality is as you would expect from Fujigen, and this is spotless for a guitar which is 5 yrs old:

The neck is brilliant, nice and thick, U-shape. Definitely not a 60s slim, and the pickups are awesome. I have the same Alnico 8's in my FGN LP, but they have more of a mid-range growl in the SG. Almost like fuzz out of the box..

No fret dressing needed, just a coat of F-One oil on the rosewood and new strings!

Nice. I'm a big fan of Fujigen built guitars, the necks have been particularly nice on any I've played. Also do you have anymore pics of the goldtop McCarty? 22 fret double cut prs in goldtop with moons are my favourite.

I can take some, it's a 1999 with the older pickups. Some complain about them but they nail the Duane Allman Live at Fillmore tone pretty well.

It's got a chunk of the goldtop peeled off, a younger and "smarter" version of myself wanted to have a plain maple top and started but didn't finish removing it. Regrets abound..

I used to have a 2000 McCarty which had the stock Mccarty Pickups. I hated on them for a while along with the dragon iis in my ce but looking back in a live context they worked really well. IMO The upper mid honk that older prs Pickups have really cut through a mix and allow you to be heard.

Seeing as you started removing the finish it could be worthwhile completing the job and then respraying in gold nitro?

I hear you with the mix. It took me about ten years to like the guitar but now I love it and the pickups are just right.

Nitro is a good call, but I’d be tempted to do daphne blue or a faded pink. Just because.. (though probably go goldtop).
