Oh noes.

I don't think it's bad advice. What Jimi said was true for a very long time. Jimi himself went back to school just a few years ago and built a whole new sucessful career for himself. But, something has fundamentally shifted over the last decade and especially since COVID. Economically and politically. I don't want to open that can of worms here though. I do appreciate all the responses. I'm being a worrywart.
If you didn't worry you wouldn't be a dad to her. 😌

Back in the day I had a girl in class who started crying when we we asked to share bits and pieces about parenting / parental investment and such (nursery school), when she said out loud her father (can't call such a person a dad) didn't even know what she was studying.

I wholehearted agree that a university degree should not be regarded as vocational training. I studied English, film and television and later graphic design. Became a photographer. I am very fortunate that I was born with a particular set of of skills. After my mum died while I was still quite young I decided I was never going to just accept a job because it paid well. My mum never got to do any of the cool stuff she had planned for her retirement. Who knows what the future holds?

Study what works for you. Don't let sensible people tell you otherwise.

That's the kicker I always think of. We're told to forfeit our present to secure a future but there's no guarantees that we'll get that future.

A car could hit and kill me tomorrow and any savings I had for a house or medical expense become money not used towards joy. Same goes for time.

Our daughter, who is a sophomore in college, has picked her major. It's Anthropology. The one major with the highest unemployment rate. How do I tell her she can't live at home after graduation ;)
Change the locks. Buhahaha(evil laugh)
