Hello,i have built a pathogen distortion recently,it works, but with only one small problem - the toggle switch does not switch between the two modes,i replaced the switch, still the same problem persisted. Finally i tested continuity between the 3 through-holes for the switch on the pcb,and one of them was shorting to the pcb ground points.... any ideas how to fix this issue? Any help would be appreciated.

You should have one of the points going to ground. The other (not middle) pin should not be connected to anything. Double check the solder joints on C25 and reflow if necessary. If still no change then try replacing C25.

Looking at the build doc only, either the top or bottom pin should have a connection to ground the other should not. Is this true on your build? I guess I wasn't clear above.

yes, this is true, and when i solder the toggle switch, this hole and the centre hole as well, connect to ground

With the switch in both positions?

If the center pad is connected to ground with the switch removed there is a problem somewhere on the PCB.

If the center pad is connected to ground with the switch installed and in the Down position the problem is the switch.

It's normal for the center pad to be connected to ground with the switch in the Up position.

with the switch removed, only the hole close to IC1 is connected to ground, with the switch installed,up position, both that hole and the centre hole are grounded, with the switch in down position, only the hole close to IC1 is grounded

The switch is working properly then.

Verify the values of R23 (10K) and C25 (4n7).

I can't recall how extreme this switch was, is it possible it's working and just very subtle? You can test this by temporarily tacking a larger value cap (try 100nF) across lug 3 of the volume pot and lug 2 of the toggle switch. This should greatly exaggerate the effect of the toggle switch.

And like @Nostradoomus said, pics would be helpful.
