I had the good fortune of finding a lonely Peavey 6505 slant cab with 4 Sheffield 12” speakers, sitting in the furniture section of a thrift store this weekend.
Saturday was a quiet day. I decided I would take a load of old clothes and toys into town and donate them. I thought I’d better have a look around the store, check out some vinyl and cd’s, and there it was. $50!!!
I thought for sure one of the speakers would be blown, or something. But it’s all good.
New, these things are/were $1200. Used in good condition, around $500.
I don’t want to sound like I’m bragging about my good luck, I just wanted to tell some people that know about this type of gear.
I’m running my Traynor Darkhorse amp on the 2 watt setting into the cab. And it makes me giggle. Later today, I’ll try it on the 15 watt, next to my fender twin, and see if I can shatter a few wine glasses. Happy fools day.
