He is a super nice guy and feel like his heart is in the right place but I can really see how it comes off. I just want to order up some c100k/C10K pots and get the live version of my favorite overdrive made again.

Friend of mines parents ran a jewelry store, he said the best Christmases were the ones where the going out of business sign was up in late October. People would come in to get deals on jewelry that is already marked up 400% and then they would make money on repairs and cleanings.
 
I almost hate to shit on them since they aren't in business anymore but I remember clowning Chesapeake Effects on a facebook group for rehousing boss dd-20s and the faceplate was visibly crooked because they had no discernable skill at metalwork.
 
April Fool's Day vaporware and the YouTube videos that come along with it. What an incredible waste of time and money that could have been spent coming up with a new design.

Hell yeah. Those monkeys should stay in their little design cages dancing away for the masses. I think I saw one smiling at a baby. What a waste of productivity.

Joking a-side. Isn’t vapor-ware some-thing promised which doesn’t eventuate, where-as an April’s Fool is a bit of fun which we don’t ex-pect to be true?

The OGs of this business model, D*A*M, Castledine, etc. were NEVER this in your face about it. They simply made pedals like the British companies in the 60s would have and as a result sort of organically advertised NOS stuff.

Frankly, if an engineer from the 60s knew the quality of the parts we had today and found out we were using crusty pulls from tape machines or NOS stuff, they smack us upside the head Homie the Clown style.

It only makes sense (to me) to eventually gravitate toward smaller, less-expensive, more readily available PNs, unless through-hole only is your groove…everyone has their own thing. You can fit a heck of a lot more in a 125B using surface-mount components, but it may seem impersonal, less-DIYish to some. That said, I’m not planning an smd tube amp anytime soon….some things are sacred. :ROFLMAO:
 
Going back to the original question (and I’m known to go off on tangents at any given moment), Buffalo effects did a horrendous crash and burn a few years back, with a number of people never getting their money back.

Yep, I'm surprised this one didn't make the list sooner. Ripping folks off should definitely be high on the list of "frowned upon" behavior. :ROFLMAO:
