Pedalpcb Vox Clyde McCoy

Build Rating
5.00 star(s)
While I loved my sham wah build, what my heart really desired is the old Clyde McCoy spec wah. Something special about the sound and feel of those old Vox wahs. Turns out there aren't a lot of diy wah pcbs. The main difference between the Dunlop crybaby and a Vox is the input buffer. Then it's just one or two minor value changes and the inductor.

I modded a sham wah board to bypass the input buffer and make the Q control fixed. I picked up this used mint crybaby on the cheap and got to work. Halo inductor, Area51 pot and reused the stock 2pdt switch. No LED, no external controls. This is the most vocal and smooth sounding wah I have used in a long time. The high end harshness is gone with the input buffer gone. Until there is a dedicated vox pcb from Robert, I consider this a multipurpose vox/crybaby board. I attached the mods in case you want to try for yourself.
