If my count is right, this is the 50th pedal I've finished. I was so amped when this board dropped that I bought one right away and posted about how excited I was. I must have seen some demo video that blew my mind. Only took a little over a year to get it put together! After a skoolie and a couple low tides, I wanted to do a quick dirt box to catch some momentum.
The build doc listed a j201 as a workable sub for the 5103, so I did that. No sound when I first plugged it in, but setting the test point to 5v (nice touch) got it going.
I just read a couple other build reports and the reactions were mostly lukewarm, but I like it a lot so far. I've been into medium gain sounds lately (mostly from an irrlicht or a duocast) and this is great for that. The breakup character is fuzzy, it cleans up nice with the volume knob and I like the decay. My only gripe with my duocast is that even set pretty mellow there's a little sputter/ gating thing at the end of a decaying note that I don't love. This is a little smoother. I like it with the weight and bass rolled back pretty far, maybe 9 o'clock. I've been messing with some more complex (for me) chords with upper extensions and this sounds cool on those. I can get it sounding a little aggressive without washing out those upper notes.
Only bungle on the build was I mixed up the serial and model on the nameplate. Decided to run it instead of wasting a tag.
