It's also designed by Howard Davis, who designed the original EHX PolyPhase (among a ton of other bad ass effects). I haven't played an EP2, but it seems to be able to easily cover the sounds of the PolyPhase while taking it to even further extremes, and still maintaining a high degree of musicality.
