Post Your Workbench Setup!

I'm looking for inspiration for when I change up my setup. I'm currently working on a bench I designed for a different part of the house so it's a weird shape and I haven't built a shelving system. My better half just got me an akro mils drawer array for my resistors, and I have another coming in the mail, so after I set that up it'll be time for a rethink. I like everything right in front of me, but there's only so much space for stuff like that. I'd like to see what everyone else does for their organization and workflow!

Here's my drilling/overflow bench. This one is standing height

My work "bench" is also my everyday computer use/music nook, too.

It certainly could be less cluttered, but I actually do have things organized. The shelves at bottom-left are for hardware and pots. The stack of three shelves at right, under the desk, are caps, diodes, PCBs, transistors and PCBs. They're actually spring-loaded hanging-file CD drawers, and have made for great spacial optimization in my home.

I also have a dedicated one for just resistors under my desk/pedalboard at left.

I got a bed on which I throw my collection of compartment boxes whenever I start doing things with electricity. Desk needs to be cleared for whatever I want to do.

Started here 10 years ago . . . .

Migrated here a year later . . .

Had to spread out 6 months later . . . .

Got a fresh scope 18 months later, but wifey-poo said it had to move . . . .

Then landed here in July 2023 (all in the same house) . . . .

Yeah, my bench may be a pigpen, but you've seen my results. Believe it or not, I still know right where everything is. (Mostly.)

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!🥂🎉🎊🎇

By the way, even though this thread might have been done before... There's a compliment hidden in plain sight for those who are into woodwork and frequented Facebook groups around this in the past.

Your workbenches / spaces, how tidy or messy they are, are actually being used! There's no shame to be felt for anything posted. Things are clearly being done here. 😊

In those groups? You see waaaay to many posts about people having build their workbench, but never a follow-up on what they're making... Which tells me they don't really got anything to build.

Workbenches, and the same freaking tabletop with blue resin river, and the same freaking lawnchairs Over and over again. No wonder everyone's so pissed over there. Tons of tools, seeing no use because no one knows what to do with it. (Reminds me of Gearspace...)

Which made me think... That I can't think of a circuit here that I am sick of seeing. The typical stuff (hi fuzz flavor a, b and c) ends up with some mod or a relatively fresh or personal need implemented, which makes it worth reading even if it's basically the same thing.

Or, is there?

Mostly bike shit, but there's a corner for soldering. The iMac is for running Zwift.

Ahh, you must have joined before the forum changed themes... 🤣

No one ever hesitated from reinventing the negative threads so it's going to be fine. These threads are how I find new tools and gadgets I wasn't aware existed.
