pot position question

When installing the pots, the square pad is for pin 1 correct? Pin 1 is the ground if I think I'm correct. Correct me if I'm wrong. Or do I have my pots backwards? The build docs don't really specify direction of the pots. When I built the Paradise drive, it has too much low end and gets muddy on the lower strings and I can't seem to get it to sound like it should. It doesn't have the clarity that you would expect from that pedal. Just wanted to be sure I had the pots in correct. Any advice is appreciated.

Yep, lug 1 goes into the square pad. You can't really generalize all pots and say that any particular lug is "ground", it just depends on the circuit it's used in.

This is how the PCBs typically look with pots installed.

Some have found that replacing C2 (47nF) with a 4n7 helps if the pedal is too dark.

Cool. I do have them in right. And thanks for the advice on the Paradise. After listening to an actual Jubilee, mine was just not really hitting the mark. I will try the cap change and see how that works. Thanks for the help.
