Powersound Whine

Hey there-

I just built this pedal, and I’ve got a high pitched whine when engaged. Everything works as expected aside from this. The whine increases when any knob is turned up. Power is from a pedal power 2+, and I’ve also tried other power supplies, always getting the same noise. I’ve checked all my component values, reflowed all solders, and put some tape between pots and board - I’m stumped what to try next. My thinking is that maybe I have a bad opamp (1044) or transistors (bc109)? Any help is much appreciated!

Is it a constant whine at the same pitch? Where did you get the 1044?

Yes, constant high-pitched wine

I got the 1044 from seller on eBay - it crossed my mind that it might be junk. Any way to test it?

That whine is a pretty good indicator that it’s bad.
