This one's pretty interesting. I admittedly have been fairly underwhelmed with my DBA related builds. My favorite was the dirty verb and I hate verb. I also enjoy the robot but it's so over the top abrasive, it's not exactly useful. This little fuzz is a nice amount of weird while still sounding like a guitar on the other side. It's not exactly a big or versatile fuzz but It's unique among my many (waaaay too many) fuzzes.
In the calmer switch setting you get what I'm interpreting as wave folding. Not as much as a prunes n custard or ugly face but the bloom of the note is a bit of a journey. Turning the guitar volume down it loses the sweeping frequencies and gets nice and barky. Switch activated and it's among the most blown out chaotic fuzzes I've played. Mine might be weird because at full bore the volume will duck down and then come back up as the note dies. It's strange but I was expecting strangeness so without an authentic to compare to I'm going with "feature not bug."
My main goal with these reports are to assess a pedals utility on bass and I'm lukewarm with this one there. It definitely eats the lows but I really like some of the sounds I got with my bass VI. I may build another for a parallel combo of some sort in the future. I highly recommend, especially for the guitar oriented builders. Parts were easy to find, the pcb was a smooth building experience as always and I wasn't even struck by lightning over the 666 in the design. Something about it seemed to call for a bare box and a fancy knob.
