Anyone know of a font close to the RAT font?

Closest is Geom Graphic Bold if you have access to the Adobe Font library.

Or maybe Kallisto.

I work for Adobe and have access to like a gajillion fonts. so if you don't have the font I'd be happy to convert some type to outlines for you.

The "RAT" type, the PROCO logo and the font used on the knob labels are all different. but happy to help in any way.

The original metal type of Microgramma from 1952 didn't have a lowercase.

I obviously had same spare cycles during lunch..

minutely closer to Microgramma I'd say.

The same foundry produced both fonts so there is that too.

You're right. I think URW updated a lot of their typefaces in the late 90s. might have added it then.

Well, it's kinda cheating, it's the same basic font used for the HIWATT insignia!
