FOR THE MOSFET DRIVER it calls for 1k trim pots I have 5k is that too much to use to bias the bs170's Im assuming thats what theyre for

They aren't technically bias pots, they're adjusting the gain for each of the stages. There is no right or wrong setting here, it's a matter of preference.

5K should work perfectly fine in this case.

I have a question that somewhat relates to yours, but it's about the 5k1 resistors on the drain of the BS170's. I only have 4k7 resistors, and I'm wondering how exact the drain resistor value needs to be. Would 4k7 be considered "within spec"?
