Seeing him play from just 10 feet away when I was 15 was one of the most impactful moments of my life. Absolutely brilliant. Rest in peace.

Here’s a standout clip from my second time seeing him (not my video)

…really upset with myself for not seeing him again when I had the chance last-minute 2 months ago. Figured I’d always have another chance. Damn…

Besides his enigmatic technique, it will be his note choice and rhythm that I will always remember.

Just like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Dolphy and very few others, some musicians seemingly grab notes from exotic areas of outer space that we are not privy to.

He died peacefully at least.

All the guitar greats are gonna go in the next few years, aren't they?

It felt like he was going to live forever. He didn't look 78 (ignoring the dyed hair). I think he'd been vegetarian or vegan for a long time and was a pretty healthy guy. What a loss. I love his classic earlier stuff, but the stuff he started to get into with the drum machines and electronics was really cool too. The first album I really listened to was Jeff and I would never had guessed he was a dude around Jimi Hendrix's age playing that music. You didn't see Jimmy Page doing a cover of Rollin and Tumblin like this:

Or listen to the crazy alien noises in this:

RIP

Sad news...

He was a tasty player, with great taste in cars...

A few cars from his collection...

He didn't just order them from a Kustom Shop, like Danny Gatton he wrenched on his cars himself.

And he had great taste in Bass Players...
