Rough week for Millie

Our dog Millie was diagnosed with a splenic tumor this week, they removed the tumor along with her spleen, now we await pathology, if it's benign she's good to go, if it's malignant her outlook is two to three months. It's been a difficult week and they really need to come up with a something better than the E Collar, aka the Cone of Shame for post-op pets, bless her heart with the drugs she's on and trying to navigate with that thing!

I pray it’s benign. I know exactly what that’s like with a dog. They work their way into your heart like nothing else. Having dealt with pet health issues with the last two we decide that we would take a good long break before considering another. Agreed about the cone of shame. One of ours had to wear socks for months on end. That’s fun too.

I am sorry to hear about Millie's woes. There is actually something better than the Cone. We got an inflatable collar like this one from Amazon for our golden retriever. It keeps them from gnawing, but allows for the usual eating/drinking and doesn't hinder mobility.

I did find something similar which I ordered, doubt it will arrive before her staples are out this time of year
