I learned a long time ago to order parts on Smallbear at the amount to get a volume discount. It gave me several spares and it allowed me to get a little better price and I could cobble together a new circuit without having to place an extra order...most of the time. Usually a couple parts (a specific transistor or Zener diode or a particular toggle switch) weren't in my stash. The only parts I have tons of are resistors and knobs for some reason.

I like to keep enough components on hand that I could build just about any fuzz/drive on a whim (or by request). It’s easy to stock up when you buy from Tayda, Mouser, or other places with quantity discounts- even if it’s just 15-20 extra pieces at a time!

When I make a parts order I always add extra IC's and whatnot. Need 1, grab 3. I try to keep every resistor/cap value on hand, replenish as they get low. I'll buy enclosures and pots per pedal.

Usually I wait until I have a bunch of pedals on the horizon, make my order, then reorder the parts I missed the first go. Add extra shit to make the shipping worthwhile.

And in the spirit of Popnfreshbass, I got a couple oz of mushrooms stuffed in a kitchen cupboard...

I usually order extra parts with every new order as others mentioned so I do have a bunch of extra caps and resistors and a few extra transistors and ICs. I am not very good at keeping inventory so I have ordered stuff I already own in the past.
