Should I buy a wah pedal or build one?

I'm building a board at the moment (just testing the spackins) - measured a gap on the side for a vox vintage.. and a fuzz face germanium.. and ...

I can see how they can quickly become a doorstop. So far 3/5 pedals get used regularly (HL, TS and the tuner). However I have some hendrix to learn so..

Might makes for right. Footed wahing. And playing.

No doubt about it: wahs be big. Biggins. Expression pedals in general, honestly.

But I'm always gonna have room on my board for a wah and a whammy.

Bonus points for doing both at once. Just make sure your pedal board is load-bearing.

The enclosure is 35 bucks anywhere, the board is going to be 20 after shipping, then there's specialty components I'll have to order plus shipping, or I can buy a used cry baby for 70.

What's the deal with different wah pedals? Do they not all do the same thing? If I build one can I make some special unobtanium circuit like what we normally do?
DIY wah is an absolute money pit and the return on investment is difficult to measure because it is objectively better but not necessarily for what it costs to do.

I had a funny little discovery yesterday that when I turn my strat's tone control all the way down, with my tube screamer on, there is somewhat of an envelope filter type sound going on.

I like wah for the solo in Blinded by the Light, which is subtle, so this is good enough for me atm
