Silver mica cap and tantalum in the Percolation Station

I see the original Harmonic Percolator had a 100p silver mica cap in C1 and 47u tantalum in C4. Would these make much difference in sound? Is it worth the trouble?

Hi Danny,

I suppose that would depend on whom you ask, but the best way to know is to listen for yourself. Socket those caps and try the SM and tants, then let us know what you find.

The differences, if detectable at all, will be very subtle. I don't like ceramic caps because they can be noisy & microphonic. The transistors are the dominant factor in the sound you get from an HP, so be sure to socket those.

I second that concept: Transistors will be the dominant factor. I tried a handful, they were wildly different from each other! It's a great pedal.
