A few weeks ago I started playing around comparing recording my amp line in vs using mics.
To my amazement the line out sound was almost identical to the mic sound, and in some cases even better.
The problem was, to get the really good sound I had to have the amp turned up, and with most of my free time at night while the kid is asleep.... Long story short, I found that you can rig up a big resistor to take the load of the speaker. And it works perfectly!
