When I first signed on this site, I really dug the place, no snarky bullshit, just builders at all levels trying to help each other out, a great place to hang. I get the "all in good clean fun" trip, but it's gotten beyond that, it's like those post opened the gates for being just down right rude and inconsiderate, we all started this hobby at different levels and different passions for it. For me for now the good is not worth the bad, I'll check in now and again, but I've had my share of attitude in my life and I'm at the less is more with it, see you down the road
 
Such is the world where everyone is in a rush and get instant information.

Just gotta give recognition to the good ones :)

I took a couple months off for different reasons but you’ll be back 😏

I don’t disagree. Some of what goes down in the IAIGF/GCF vein is downright hilarious but there is a razors edge there. Gallows humor often gives insights into its purveyors and exposes them for having a bit of a mean streak. Sometimes you have to take the good with the bad. In that arena, ill nature often masquerades as humor.

I can’t speak for everyone, but I’ll still be here when you resurface!

Sorry to hear that. I personally haven't noticed any of that outside of the long-defunct IAIGF thread, save for a few posts from certain infrequent posters on the forum, but I'll admit that I haven't been paying as much attention to a lot of the threads lately as I've been trying to keep a handle on my return to college after an extended hiatus– I absolutely don't doubt that it's been happening, but it's been slipping under my nose I guess.

I've always enjoyed your presence on the forum quite a lot, so it's really a shame to me to see that things have come to this. I'll certainly miss seeing you around here, and would gladly take you over whoever it may be who's souring the pot for others. I hope people get their act together with their attitudes, so that you'll be back soon! I get why you'd want to take a break from exposing yourself to all of that– same sort of reason why I quit using social media a few years ago, and don't really talk to anyone from my high school days anymore. I hope you enjoy your hiatus, but even more so, I hope things turn around and you come back into the fold soon!

Man...I must have completely missed something. Most of what I find on here is truly in good fun. Never seen anything on here that I would classify as rude. Everyone just seems to be having so much fun. Maybe I'm not on here enough to see it. Dunno.
 
Totally get it, and I feel somewhat the same way.

I do think it comes in cycles though. Might be a good time for everyone to reset and check your snark. There’s no baseline of expertise expected here.
 
I thought that thread was lame and paid no more attention to it. I think it's inevitable that some place on the interwebs which starts off incredibly well - friendly, polite, respectful but still fun - will have a few rough patches as more people jump on. I have been waiting and watching and yup, it happened. Still, overall this place is way ahead of anywhere else I've seen in terms of respect. And that's really the issue - respect. I really hope this place doesn't end up like most. I think it can.

Perhaps the forum already reached its zenith, such is the lifecycle of things such as clubs, sports-teams and even countries. I know I've joked about newbs recently in one thread [Edit: this post], but it was a poke at myself recalling some of the crazy ideas I had and trying to fit too much into one build, that sort of thing. In light of your leaving, I regret that post.

I wish you well on whatever path you find yourself on.

Sad to see you go, mate. Hopefully this is a catalyst for a wake-up call and behavioural change.

It would be a shame if this gem of a community slipped the way of so many others.
