Tape Saturator Build Part 2

Best price is see for U$D
Look like EF14 or whatever 600:600 ($1) transformers in a mumetal case
60hz-2k flat response. Nothing special.
A lot of the places selling these HT6868, including the one you linked to, are saying 20Hz-20KHz — which would be great for my needs...

However, as per your post, the freq response in "Electrical Characteristics #4" below:

I'm needin' some more edjamakayshun on these thingermabobbidditties...

Hope you don't mind all that graphic content above in your thread, @captain, can delete if you prefer.

I found a listing that was selling the HT6868 "shielded" and bare, open core. It listed the freq response as 20-20, but "flat freq" was 60-2 or whatever. It's just a run of the mill Chansformer in a pretty case, was my point. Same specs as much cheaper options without a pretty case. For guitar, it's... fine.

Cinemag vs Chinemag. Don't think you're getting one for the price of the other.

Well, I'm on the lookout for stuff for bass.

Can't afford Cinemag, not expecting Chinamag to be anywhere close to the former transformer,
but it'd be nice to find a happy medium.

Yeah. Sorry for derailing. The post popular topic around here can often be off topic. Dig the build. Beautiful execution.
What best uses.have you found for it so far?

No problems. I use it manly with an old Akai S5000 sampler just makes it sound a bit sweeter as the 5000 can be a bit clean. Also the transformers help out a bit adding a bit more saturation so perfect for what I want. But to be honest my old ears would probably struggle to hear the difference between these and another one.

Check out these measurements I made. Some of the cheaper transformers have a surprising performance.

It's hard to beat the price to performance of the Triad ones IMO. I have a few more on hand I need to test.

I dig the Triad offerings, but a lot of builds call for an insect transformer and Triad's 20Hz–20kHz TY-250P is an arachnid.

It's worth noting that even though the TY-141p states 200hz to 2k or whatever, when you actually measure it, it's flat down to 20 hz and up to over 16khz, I need to set aside an after noon to do the testing again soon because I have that one plus a bunch more on hand at the moment.
