That4305 issues

Has anyone built the muzzle with the new that4305 adapter board? Ive built 2 and both have the same issue , only gate when the threshold is maxed out , the key isnt working and it cuts off notes.. I have built about 10 to 15 of the regular 4301s and smds without any issues and just cant figure out whats going on.. I will prob it next to see if all passes signal. Thanks in advance

Sorry to hijack this thread. Until now I was just reading and just recently joined. I'm not sure whether to start a new thread or not.
The muzzle I build doesn't seem to gate at all (the led is indicating changes just fine, but no attenuation in output).
I've spend several hours testing and debugging without success. I'm suspecting the 4305 retro fit board. Any news/insights why some have issues with their chips?

I can post a short video clip if anyone is interested.
If you have done your due diligence, : confirmed all correct components, are installed in the proper orientation, double checked all off board wiring is correct, and inspected solder joints.. ect. start a new troubleshooting thread with pictures of your build.

In my case, it looks similar. I checked my PCB work thoroughly, I did not make any mistakes, so only the said retrofit module remains the suspect of malfunctioning.
He neequo,
Same as you I'm from Poland and have exactly same problems with build as you have. I have kit from Musikding + I've build my own veroboard but still I have same issue. I even purchased 2nd THAT4301 retrofit module (that4305 base) but still same issue. Now, I am thinking to pay those sick money on original 4301 or purchase couple of 4305 chips and re-solder on board.
Were you able to solve issue on your build? If yes, could you provide what was the solution?
Thx mate!

@icziko
You can test the retrofit module in other circuit that incorporates 4301. If you have a breadboard you could try https://thatcorp.com/datashts/dn100.pdf
What region of Poland do you live in?
Thx temol, I am thinking about building THAT4301 noise gate as per THAT. I have breadboard so it might take an evening to check that. The one of drawback is that I am not sure what to expect from that design.
I live in Rzeszow.

I also don't know what to expect from this circuit, but since it's a noise gate I would expect default operation.. :)
There are also compressors with 4301, but it is probably easier to diagnose the module with a noise gate.
I’m from KRA, so a bit far for a visit.

Thx temol. Wow, KRA is not that bad, 1.5 hr drive from RZE ;)
Anyway I will try DN100. On forum I have found out that Revv G8 is strongly based on that schematics from THAT, so I will give it a try. Optionally I saw that PCBGuitarMania will release Zuul+ soon so I would be eager to compare schematics. At this point it is easy to deduct that not all (few?) 4305-based retrofit kit emulate correctly 4301. I looked at different demo on YT with clones or even Aliexpress chinese gates that emulates Zuul and I admit that they gates signal the same as my unit which is not perfect. However real Zuul demo behaves differently (better) and here and there people claim that with original 4301 chip this circuit is functioning correctly. If I have free time I would breadboard this circuit and I will play with different components, also I will try to replace NE5532 chips on retrofit board to see if that makes difference. The last choice would be to replace 4305 chip but I would purchase from competent distributor like Mouser to ensure that I would receive original chip. At the end we don't know the origin of chips once we order retrofit kit.
If this mission will fail, the next step would be to try DN100 as you propose and then wait for Zuul+ schematic.
Cheers!

If your 4301 module came from Musikding and had the PedalPCB logo on the back then the 4305 did in fact come from Mouser and is genuine.

There have been enough reports that I have to assume something is going on, but so far I haven't received a single 4301 module back that was actually defective. They have all behaved exactly like my original THAT4301 through-hole IC.

I'd really be interested to get my hands on one of the defective modules.

If it helps anyone here are the voltages for the module itself and the pot from a build with the retrofit module that works

At this point I think the retrofit module has taken a lot of heat for a problem that is most likely not its fault. I see quite a few people give up on troubleshooting this one because it’s a circuit that’s not easily as understood as a lot of other projects. I had a board with an odd problem but it was an easy fix and no one else said that they have had the same issue so I chalked that up as a one off manufacturing defect.
