Aww shit ya! It is pedal demo video day and this is the last of the third batch of videos. The first batch (ADHD, Amp in a box videos) was really testing out the gear and trying to work out the kinks that comes with doing this whole one man sideshow. The second batch (Mercurial boost, Rangefinder, Betty Boost, Cheesemonger) were more focused on getting the single pedal demo ideas hashed out and figuring out my method to do this with the time restraints I have. In one day I filmed the four videos and then filmed the four overhead shots and then spent time editing it all together. Thinking this was the cats crispy ass, I attempted to recreate the magic with batch three (Transmogrifying Repeater, Odd One Out, Gnat fuzz and Spitfire OD) this immediately presented a whole host of issues.

Due to the fact that my brain works wonky, I still had ideas swirling for the edits of batch two, while thinking about making shorts for batch one, while thinking about how to say words for filming batch three, all the while trying to be comfortable and not janky on camera and not play the same blooze licks…..

My brain crippled under the weight of all of that and it has been a huge learning process. Next week’s video was filmed on Tuesday, rough edited on Wednesday, second edit on Saturday and finishing up adding pictures today for next Monday release. As much as trying to film in batches fits into my life, realizing that consistency is much readily achieved with realistic goals and doing one or two a weekend makes for much more ease on the backend of editing.

Yeah man, good stuff. I actually just built (not boxed) one last week. I tested my germs but I wasn't sure what the optimal hfe/ leakage were for a proper buzzaraoud. I started with a low leakage 60/80/120 hfe set of GT310B and I have yet to find a better sounding transistor for Q3. With almost no effort, it totally rules. I was expecting a much longer toan quest.

That is awesome to hear! Nothing worse than tone questing only to find your original settings were still the best.

I was really surprised by how metallic it sounds, it can be very razor industrial sounding.
There are a lot of talented builders with this forum, but I love your stuff. The hand painted art is fantastic and shows a level of skill that a lot of us lack.
Mate, that really means the world to me! Thank you! I am continually humbled by this forum and the amount of talented builders. It amazes me how many smart people we have just casually throwing out years of wisdom and computer savvy tech people designing the neatest stuff. I am just a weirdo over here doing my little paintings.
Another demo, another board added to cart. Great stuff!
I look forward to hearing/seeing your results, it is an interesting fuzz.
Yahew! Great greeat grrrreat pedal-build, art, advice and video!

LOVE love love LOVE the SG with FILTERtonage — yes, a tonnage of tone in Filtertron = FILTERtonage.
The filtertrons.......

You wanna hear a story? You got it, here it goes.

Having the headstock repair on the guitar really makes you think about all of the mod possibilities. First up was the pick ups, went through a slew of humbuckers and then p90 shaped humbuckers and none of them really gave me the sound I was looking for. @Pauleo1214 suggested filtertrons and I got these from GFS for 40 bucks... They are the right amount of trashy and when it is paired with this pedal it really shines;

never built a Gnat but I built a couple other buzzaroud/ dizzy tone variants, it’s a great fuzz I like how burly it gets. Another great demo/report! Love your artwork as that bug is awesome.. ever thought about an animated demo/report? I know it would be a stupid amount of work but it would be awesome!

One small, nitpicky comment on your recent videos. The overall volume for me is on the lower side compared to other YT videos. Your content is top notch, though.
I love all comments because I was wondering the same thing but am so close to it, you know?

My next video exhibited the same problem and, in post, I had to adjust a lot of faders.

My approach to audio editing is always to make sure it sounds accurate. A little blend of the three sources and away we go. The two things I noticed were; overall volume and volume discrepancies between vocal/playing. This is all highlighting the importance of spending a few moments with audio editing before heading to video editing. The current demo I am working on is killing my iPad, I need to transition to working on an ipad then finishing up on a computer.

I have a lot of ideas that involve animation and time is the biggest issue, well maybe ADHD, then terminators….what? Huh?
