The Howling Overdrive (PPCB Lycan)

This is the PPCB Lycan. It’s an overdrive with lots of bells and whistles. Nice range of sounds. It’s not my cup of tea though. Artwork came from a movie poster or some sort of advertising for the movie “The Howling”.

what amps have you tried goosing with it so far?

I think it's the same as the direwolf but I can't say 100%. I used it with a Carvin X100, Marshall Origin 20 head, and a Revv G20. The Revv and Marshall both got along really well with it and sounded great. The Carvin sounded ok with it but it was harder to dial in a good sound. Carvin is my #1 amp though, so this pedal won't make the cut for now.

The Lycan is a DIY collaboration with Highwind Amplification based on their flagship pedal, the Direwolf Overdrive.

It's a TS-type circuit run at 18V with some switchable modifications and a clean blend.

I Love your pedal, even if it's not your fave aural flavah.

I'm into movie poster-art etc, and I can remember seeing The Howling when it was first released in theatres.

Tayda recently started carrying them. I think they have short bar ones too.

Yeah, I think "overdrive" for this pedal is a bit of a misnomer in my mind. "Chug maker" would be a better name for it, or just "boost."
Doesn't really do much spectacularly on its own, needs to feed another distorting pedal/amp.
